 Combwich as it's known now, back then was known as Churchstanton. When the layout originally emerged it was going to be an ex LSWR branchline somewhere in Devon. That lasted for about 6 months.

 The layout remained in this form until 2000 after languishing in my parents loft for 15 years. Here's the layout in 1982 before its rebuild with harbour, widened baseboard, backscene and extension with the level crossing.

 58086, is still very much running - especially well since local loco guru Phil Hall rebuilt the chassis for me last year! This picture was taken on Kodachrome with evening sunlight in the summer of 1982. The signal box here still survives on Combwich, albeit moved across the tracks with a different roof - it can be seen in its current guise in other shots in this collection.
